Course Description and Objectives:

This course covers the basic aircraft navigation concepts, this includes the theory of airborne Very High Frequency (VHF) navigation equipment, including VHF Omni-directional Range (VOR) receivers, instrument landing system (ILS) equipment, long-range navigation systems, inertial navigation systems and Global Positioning Systems.

At the end of this training course, the participant will successfully be able to:

• Explain the operation of Instrument Landing System (ILS).
• Explain the operation of the Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) System.
• Explain the operation of transponder and DME equipment.
• Explain the operation of Global Positioning System equipment.
